Layanan staff pos office terhadap warga asing nak hantar duit untuk isteri buat wanita ini kesal
Artikel ini dipetik dari facebook Maziah Martin:
Went to the post office just now and I saw 1 Nepalese and 2 Bangladeshis. They wanted to send money back home via Western Union. None of the staff there wanted to help them. They must have asked about 4 counters and still look very clueless. So I asked:
Me : nk buat apa?
Him: hantar wang western union. wife mahu bagi baby.
Me : *Go to the number machine* lain kali datang tekan C. Ini untuk kirim wang.
Him: Terima kasih kakak
* Instantly their number got called, 3008 counter 10. Meanwhile I’ve been waiting for almost an hour and still have 10 numbers before me -__-.
Me : Haa tu number sudah panggil. Pergi sana counter 10 hujung.
Them : Ok ok (but doesnt know which counter).
Me : Number 10. There. There. Hujung *pointing2*
So they proceeded to the counter. But it was swift. And they left the counter. So I asked:
Me: Sudah hantar?
Him : Belum kakak. Tak boleh hantar
Me : Why?
Him : Passport tak boleh baca
Me : Eh. kenapa nk baca passport. Nak hantar duit je pun. Come I go with you.
*We went back to counter 10
Me : Dik kenapa tak boleh na hantar duit dia. bukan nak kena bagi maklumat wife dia je ke. Kenapa nk kena baca passport. Nak number passport je kan.
Her : Tak boleh kak. Passport dia boleh baca. Permit kerja dia nak habis
Me : Eh. berkaitan ke. Dia nak hantar duit je pun. Tak apa lah. Bagi borang. Bagi saya je hantar.
Her : Ok. *took my IC and key in everything.
Me : Thank you. *Give the receipt to the guy. His name is Akber btw.
Him :*Thank me like I just save his life.
That makes me happy. I remember this feeling back in Tenaganita WomensForce, Tenaganita where I did my legal aid. Have I not been there for 14 weeks, I might not help them just now. I’d be scared to do so with all the stereotype that’s deeply rooted in our society. And the recent announcement of 1.5m incoming Bangladeshi doesnt make it any better. That transpire through the act of the 4 ladies at the 4 counters just now. 5 including that Western Union lady. Susah sangat ke nak tolong and bagitau mcm mana nk transfer duit? and apa kena mengena permit kerja dengan money remittance? Sigh…
We are barking up the wrong tree. Its the current government decision to bring them in. Our protess should be towards the government and not these migrants. Working in Malaysia is a big opportunity for them, of course they’ll come here if offered. And not all of them are penjenayah. The same with not all malays are pemalas, Cina kaki tipu, India kaki mabuk. If it hurts us to be stereotyped like that, what makes it any different with them. Lets just be nice to everyone okay?
